Flexitarian, vegetarian, vegan, or veg-curious? There’s a slate of newer eateries that have opened up across Metro Vancouver that are fuelled by plants, but have food that’s approachable for anyone with an appetite.
Here are seven new plant-based restaurants in Metro Vancouver you’ll want to put on your meatless eats bucket list, ASAP.
Beetbox
Beetbox is the newest venture from GM/Co-owner Justin Tisdall and Chef/Co-owner Bryan Satterford, the duo behind Juke Fried Chicken in Chinatown. They were operating a satellite Little Juke in the Davie Street location that is now the totally plant-based comfort eats spot Beetbox. Loaded burgers, fries, hot and cold sides, sandwiches, and salads will satisfy those cravings without any animals involved.

Kind Cafe
This new spot for coffee and food opened late this summer in Vancouver, featuring an eco-friendly and plant-based approach to eating and dining. In addition to a fully plant-based menu of eats and treats, Kind Cafe has been sourcing second-hand dishware and asking customers to bring their own containers and tumblers in to cut down on waste.

Planetary Burger
Hey, not all vegan food is lettuce and seeds! Planetary Burger has slid onto the Vancouver plant-based scene with their lineup burgers, fries, and shakes, and it’s all 100 per cent made of plants. And, yes – they are next door to Kind Cafe, too.

Do Chay
Brimming noodle bowls, steamy pho, juicy dumplings, crispy spring rolls, and loaded rice bowls, all done without meat. Do Chay is a Saigon-style vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant that recently opened up on Kingsway.

Via Tevere’s forthcoming plant-based pizza concept
Details are being kept under wraps on this one, but we do know that Via Tevere took over the spot on Main that until the end of this August had been Don’t Argue Pizzeria for five years. Their plan, reportedly, is to do a plant-focused pizzeria, showcasing their handmade dough and signature Napoletana flavours and style. Stay tuned!
